Assessments

Assessments are foundational to our training approach and therefore are built into our programs. Assessments provide the trainer and student with a baseline for movements and holds covered in classes. They also provide a personal space for us to come together and learn about your individual needs. Every student has their own history with injury and training and this 1-on-1 time allows us to detail how your body will complete a movement to best help you move FORWRD.

Foundation Courses

FORWRD FOUNDATIONS COURSES provide the base of knowledge required for safe practice. The 12 week course lays the foundation of alignment and connection from head to toe.  The exercises and movements covered in the courses are designed to heal, improve, and strengthen those things that succumb to gravity with age. This is why we train the complete body and functional movements like pushing and pulling, level changes, shoulder mobility, pelvic floor strengthening, and more.

Personal Training

1 on 1 time with a trainer for 60 min. During this time you will meet with a trainer so we can tailor the perfect program and plan for your journey FORWRD. Training can become the most specialized in a 1 on 1 setting and may also be required for some prior to beginning any new program.

Virtual foundation assessment

60-90 Minute Personal Session – Required prior to Foundation Course

The Foundation Assessment allows the time and space to dial in on the alignment aspects of each movement to find a strong and stable baseline from which you’ll begin to train. This way you know exactly how you’ll be training each movement at the appropriate level and intensity.

Each student will also have a discussion about their individual goals and past experience. In addition, students can learn what equipment and at home setup works best, as walk through of the systems used for the Virtual Course. This all serves to ensure the first classes runs smoothly for all in attendance.

The Virtual Foundation Assessment is a 60 minute session that covers all of the holds, movements and exercises covered and trained the Foundation Courses virtually with a Trainer.

FORWRD Foundation Courses provide the base of knowledge required for the safe and effective practice of alignment and natural movement over the 12 week course you can learn to heal, improve, and strengthen anything that has been impacted by gravity, time, or experience.

The intensive programs designed to instill the fundamentals of active alignment and natural movement. With instruction, training materials, and feedback each student receives full body training covering topics like pushing, pulling, core and back activation, level changes, shoulder stability/mobility, fascia release, pelvic floor strengthening, and more! These activities all help to relieve and reduce joint, muscle, and other chronic pains while at the same time teaching strength with proper alignment to reduce future pain and potential injury.

Both Virtual and Online courses cover the same material, but the Vitual Course features an interactive classroom and live classes. 

Each course provides detailed lessons, training logs, videos, and a library of movements. Upon completion of the Foundation Course students will become eligable for Membership or Subscriptions, which provide more advanced movements, extra workouts, and lower cost.

What is different about FORWRD Training than a other Gyms or Training Approaches?

An important aspect to the FORWRD Philosophy and approach is our Safe-Space community and atmosphere. We harbor an atmosphere where negativity (included but not limited to mentalities, self-talk, attitudes, ego, expectations, vocabulary, etc.) will not be tolerated or entertained. We are all free to learn from each other from a place of love and tolerance but there is no place for hate or ignorance unless it is to be eradicated and enlightened.

We also require assessments before joining to ensure everyone is truly working at the appropriate level/intensity so that the baseline and journey FORWRD is realistic, sustainable and healthy. We have a heavy emphasis on alignment, form and function when learning and executing movements, holds and exercises to ensure safety and strength. You will also discuss and discover the true "why" behind your personal goals and mentalities tied to healing, strength, and fitness in general, in order to establish a healthy relationship with health and fitness on your journey FORWRD.

I've not an avid gym-goer, will this program be too advanced?

Our program is designed to truly meet you where you are at and build from there in a small increments. This is why Assessments are required prior to joining any program in order to ensure you are on the most appropriate and safe pace and path in your own training. Once in class you will find a safe and welcoming virtual community. 

I'm already Training, what is Different about FORWRD training?

The alignment perspective unique to Forwrd training is beneficial to humans of all levels of training. Often times chronic aches, pains tightness, fatigue and even plateauing can be addressed and remedied by bringing more unity to the body and strength training the deep and subtle muscles/tissues which are often forgotten leading to compensation, pain and/or injury.

What is an Assessment and why is it important?

Assessments allow the trainer to get to know you better so that they may tailor the appropriate training program and approach for you, your goals, your body, lifestyle and life stresses. This way, when attending class, you will know exactly how you will be doing things for wherever you are at and everyone has their own customized way of working on the muscle groups being aligned, healed and strengthened in classes and programs.

What is the Difference Between Virtual and Online Training?

Virtual Training is closer to replicating the experience of they gym with live classes and communicate with fellow students and trainer. Spaced are limited in the Virtual Classroom. 

Online training is a self paced program featuring similar videos and program guides to support an indiviual training at home. It does not feature live classes to join. 

 

How do i become a Member at FORWRD Training?

Every student must complete the Foundation program or equivalent personal training before becoming a member. Members have access to higher level movements and courses as well as our lowest  price.

What types of people am i likely to encounter and what is the community like?

FORWRD is an all inclusive, welcoming, and safe environment for all humans to heal and get strong. You will encounter all types of backgrounds, abilities, and strengths at all different "levels."
We are the type of place for beginners or those apprehensive to going to a gym for various reasons. We are also the type of place for gym go-ers to come and learn to take their training to the next level without pain, plateauing, or injury.

What is the structure of the Foundation Course?

For both Virtual and Online, student is expected to complete 12 weeks of instruction as part of the Foundation Course. The first 8 weeks represent the core of the program and the last 4 introduce new activities and formats to help sutdent level up before joining as a member.  The goal is to empower you with the information and guidance needed to properly integrate alignment and technique into effective training and movement FORWRD.

As the course progresses “New” dynamic movements will be covered to build off of foundational movements and class formats will be different with a more cardiovascular/endurance-based approach, and a higher intensity. You will sweat more and learn to breathe more deeply.
